Tasting Profile
The nose opens with intense bourbon-soaked vanilla and charred oak, layered over waves of espresso and dark chocolate. On the palate, this monumental imperial stout reveals remarkable complexity: roasted coffee beans meld with caramelized sugar, dark fruit compote, and whiskey warmth. The double barrel treatment imparts deep bourbon character—toasted coconut, baking spices, and toffee—while maintaining balance despite the formidable alcohol presence. The finish extends luxuriously, leaving lingering notes of dark roast coffee, burnt caramel, and oak tannins with gentle bourbon heat.
Food Pairing
Pair with a dark chocolate torte featuring salted caramel and espresso buttercream, where the dessert’s bitterness and sweetness mirror the beer’s roasted complexity. Alternatively, serve alongside aged Gouda or smoked blue cheese with candied pecans, allowing the beer’s bourbon richness to complement the cheese’s crystalline texture and nutty depth.
About Tree House Brewing Company
Tree House Brewing Company was founded in 2011 in Brimfield, Massachusetts, by four homebrewers who had been perfecting their craft since 2008. What began as a modest operation on a small farm—named after the actual tree house on the property—has evolved into one of America’s most acclaimed craft breweries. After relocating to Monson in 2013 and subsequently to a purpose-built 53,000 square foot facility in Charlton in 2017, Tree House has maintained an uncompromising approach that sets it apart in the industry. The brewery operates as a non-distributing establishment, selling exclusively on-site, where customers regularly queue for an hour or more to purchase their sought-after beers. This deliberate choice reflects a commitment to quality and freshness over mass distribution. Tree House has earned recognition from Untappd, which ranks it among the top ten breweries in the United States, as well as accolades from Beer Advocate, Forbes, the Boston Globe, and Thrillist. The brewery’s reputation rests on its exceptional brewing standards and distinctive approach to craft beer, drawing devoted enthusiasts to rural Massachusetts from across the country.
