The Bruery
The Bruery is a boutique craft brewery from Placentia, California. Patrick Rue founded it in 2008 and named it after his family name. From a humble homebrew on a kitchen stove, The Bruery grew into one of America’s most respected barrel-aged ale producers.
What makes The Bruery different
The Bruery ages nearly half of its production in bourbon and wine barrels. Moreover, the brewery uses a proprietary Belgian yeast strain across most recipes. It also works with unconventional ingredients: coriander, bitter orange peel, lavender, and even Pinot Noir grapes. In addition, every beer undergoes natural bottle conditioning — no filtration, no pasteurisation. As a result, each bottle develops a complexity that industrial breweries cannot replicate.
Black Tuesday — the beer that changed everything
Black Tuesday started as a disaster. A 16-hour brew day, an overflowing mash tun, burns from scalding water. Nevertheless, Patrick Rue aged the beer in bourbon barrels for a full year. The result? A legendary imperial stout with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon, and charred oak. Furthermore, The Bruery releases it only once a year — on the last Tuesday of October — in strictly limited quantities. Variants like Blender’s Choice and Chocolate Rain are consequently among the most sought-after beers worldwide.
Why The Bruery is rare in Switzerland
Distribution outside the United States is virtually non-existent. Therefore, Wines & Spirits SA imports these beers directly for Swiss collectors. Every bottle available in our shop comes in strictly limited stock.
