Tasting Profile

4.6
Untappd

PPR Black Label is a Pappy Van Winkle-inspired monument to barrel-aging excellence, resting in five distinct bourbon barrels before being lavished with premium vanilla beans. The pour is impossibly viscous, jet-black and motor-oil thick. Aromas of toasted oak, aged bourbon, and Madagascar vanilla rise from the glass alongside dark chocolate truffle and roasted malt. The palate delivers waves of marshmallow, toasted hazelnut, espresso, and burnt caramel, all wrapped in unmistakable boozy warmth. Layered oak tannins and vanilla custard linger through a decadent, contemplative finish that rewards patient sipping.

Food Pairing

Pair with a flourless dark chocolate torte topped with vanilla bean cream to mirror the beer’s chocolate and vanilla depth. Alternatively, serve alongside an aged bourbon-washed blue cheese with toasted pecans and fig jam, allowing the bourbon-soaked oak character to harmonize with the cheese’s richness.

About Horus Aged Ales
