Two Hundred Fathoms 2022 is the seventh vintage of Galway Bay Brewery’s most celebrated release — a barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout of rare depth and composure. Aged in hand-selected Teeling’s Irish Whiskey casks, it pours jet black with a luxurious, silky body. The nose opens on roasted cocoa, espresso, and dark dried fruits, underpinned by warm whiskey oak. On the palate, layers of dark chocolate, molasses, toffee, and vanilla build to a long, gently warming finish with a whisper of charred malt bitterness. Commanding yet refined.

Food Pairing

A natural companion to a rich dark-chocolate fondant with salted caramel, where the beer’s cocoa depth and whiskey warmth mirror the dessert’s intensity. Also superb alongside a well-aged Irish farmhouse cheddar or Comté, whose nutty, crystalline character plays beautifully against the stout’s roasted sweetness.
