Omnipollo’s Billionaire’s Hot Chocolate BA pours a deep, near-opaque obsidian black with a thin dark-mocha collar that clings softly to the glass — minimal head retention by design, yielding an oily, viscous surface sheen that hints at the decadence within. On the nose, the aromatics are immediately arresting: waves of dark bittersweet chocolate, toasted coconut, fresh-ground espresso, rich bourbon-soaked oak, and a whisper of dried dark fruit. The palate is full-bodied and luxuriously thick, coating the tongue with a syrup-like mouthfeel. Flavours of baking cocoa and TCHO Ghana cocoa nibs dominate, underpinned by rye barrel spice from the Willett Family Estate aging, with Ugandan vanilla softening the edges.
Sweetness is restrained yet present, keeping the beer from tipping into cloying territory. Bitterness is low and rounded. The finish is long, warming, and gently boozy — the rye barrel character lingers alongside a faint coconut note. A remarkable collaboration between Omnipollo and Side Project Brewing, this is a beer best savoured slowly, in a small tulip, at cellar temperature.
