STARVE: Exhibit J pours a deep mahogany-amber, viscous and almost syrupy in the glass, with a thin tan ring of head that clings patiently to the rim — the hallmark of a barleywine built on years of patient oak contact. On the nose, the complexity arrives in waves: maple brûlée caramelizes atop apple compote, a cognac-laced fruitcake richness weaves through dark dried fruits, and a whisper of cinnamon stick lends spice and warmth. The palate is extraordinarily full-bodied, almost oily in texture, with a sweetness that never tips into cloying territory. Fig jam and dark caramel anchor the mid-palate, while molasses and toffee pudding bring a baked depth that speaks to the extraordinary barrel tenure — over 42 months in Heaven Hill and Basil Hayden bourbon casks alone.

The finish is long, warming, and remarkably integrated for 17% ABV, with a faint apple brandy glow and a gentle bourbon fade. Despite its immense gravity, the spirit heat is remarkably subdued.
