Brew 8000 is Fremont Brewing’s landmark celebration of their 8,000th batch — a richly structured English-style barleywine brewed with floor-malted Maris Otter barley, Noble hops, and patiently matured for 16 months in seasoned bourbon barrels. Deep ruby-brown in the glass, it opens with an inviting wave of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and bourbon-soaked dried fruit. The palate is lush and warming: dates, molasses, vanilla, and a whisper of oak weave through a medium-to-full body with just a gentle tickle of carbonation. A masterfully layered, cellar-worthy barleywine at 13.4% ABV.
Food Pairing
This decadent barleywine is a natural match for a selection of aged hard cheeses — particularly a sharp Comté or Gruyère — whose nutty, crystalline character mirrors the beer’s caramel depth. For dessert, pair with a dark chocolate and salted caramel tart, where the bittersweet cocoa harmonises beautifully with the rich bourbon-vanilla finish.
