Fremont Brewing’s Brew 2000 is a landmark barrel-aged English Barleywine from Seattle, Washington — brewed with Maris Otter Pale and Carafa 2 Special malts, White Wheat, and Magnum and Golding hops before resting in bourbon barrels. The result is a massively layered sipper: rich toffee, dates, raisins, and dark fruit are interwoven with creamy vanilla, coconut, and toasted oak. Bourbon presence is confident yet harmonious, supported by a viscous, silky body and restrained carbonation. A rare achievement in balance — complex, warming, and utterly complete.
Food Pairing
Pair with a platter of aged Comté or cave-ripened Gruyère, whose crystalline, nutty depth mirrors the beer’s caramel and oak complexity. Alternatively, serve alongside a dark chocolate fondant with salted caramel — the beer’s vanilla and bourbon notes amplify the dessert’s bittersweet richness magnificently.
