Karuizawa Single

Karuizawa Distillery operated in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, from 1955 to 2000, producing single malt whiskies of extraordinary rarity and complexity. Using the rare Golden Promise barley variety and aging exclusively in hand-selected sherry casks from Spain, Karuizawa created a house style of unparalleled richness — dark fruit, exotic spices, rancio and floral complexity. Since the distillery’s closure, the remaining stock has been bottled by Number One Drinks Company, making each release an increasingly rare and precious collector’s item. Karuizawa expressions now command prices in the thousands of dollars at auction and are considered among the greatest single malts ever produced.
