The Yamazaki Distillery is the birthplace of Japanese whisky — founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, in a valley south of Kyoto where the Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet. This exceptional location, where warm and cool air currents converge to create a uniquely humid microclimate, has defined the character of Yamazaki single malt for over a century.
